Kevin Scott, Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer, drives the company’s technical vision, fostering an environment where engineers, developers, and researchers excel. With over 20 years of experience spanning academia and industry, he has been a researcher, engineer, and leader.
Before Microsoft, Scott was LinkedIn's Senior VP of Engineering and Operations, leading its IPO and rapid growth. At Google, he managed mobile ads engineering, including integrating the $750M AdMob acquisition, and contributed to early remote engineering efforts.
Scott hosts the Behind the Tech podcast and authored Reprogramming the American Dream, exploring AI’s role in benefiting society. He holds several patents and has authored highly cited research on dynamic binary rewriting.
An angel investor and advisor, Scott serves on Shopify's board, leads the non-profit Behind the Tech, and supports initiatives like Harvard’s TAPP program. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Wake Forest University and a B.S. from Lynchburg College, with extensive Ph.D. work at the University of Virginia.
