My background spans major research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and innovative startups focused on advancing biological product development. The current focus I have is commercializing non-invasive small scale bioprocess analytical technologies for shake flasks and glass bioreactors. My current specialty targets early-stage strain development and bioprocess characterization by utilizing our inline sensing and feeding platform to enable high throughput experimental design and advanced parameter monitoring; making ML/AI integration seamless. Harnessing past experiences in the bioprocess engineering space enabled my transition into bioprocess technology where I continue to spearhead process improvement collaborations, product commercialization, and new technology development.

Shake flasks are the most commonly used small-scale cultivation vessel for microbial fermentation and cell culture. Their ease-of use and low cost per experiment provide an ideal set-up for strain selection, yield optimization, and overall bioprocess characterization. Traditionally, shake flasks are black boxes. Available manual sampling methods rarely provide enough information to understand one’s bioprocess fully, are time-consuming, and come with additional risks. New, modern sensor technologies allow scientists to study key parameters in shake flasks non-invasively, automatically, and in real time, enabling bioreactor-like capabilities at the shake flask level.
