Sumner Norman

Dr. Sumner L. Norman works at the intersection of neuroscience, engineering, and impact-driven entrepreneurship. His research in ultrasonic brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) is forging new paths in neurotechnology to improve our understanding and treatment of neurological injuries and diseases. In 2023, Sumner co-founded Forest Neurotech, a nonprofit focused research organization based on his research at Caltech introducing ultrasonic BCIs – a high-performance technique that offers a minimally invasive approach to monitoring and stimulating brain-wide function. In addition to research, Sumner has been active in state and federal government advocacy for scientific research, education, and innovation.
