Simon Barnett

Simon has a dual background in life sciences research and investment management. He is responsible for building the human and digital systems powering Dimension’s research engine. His scientific interests include novel biosensors, liquid biopsies, deep learning, and cell programming. Simon is passionate about cancer screening and pediatric rare disease research.

Previously, Simon was the Director of Life Sciences Research at ARK Invest, a global asset manager investing solely in innovative technologies through a variety of public and private portfolio wrappers. In this role, he led an interdisciplinary team to create research content and inform portfolio management activities. Over the past five years, he has published hundreds of newsletters, podcasts, Tweet threads, and research articles about the digitization of the life sciences industry. Simon has appeared on CNBC, TD Ameritrade, Yahoo! Finance, Investor’s Business Daily, and Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News.

Prior to joining ARK, Simon held various positions in preclinical cancer research and in medtech software engineering. Simon holds a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born and raised in Texas and still misses the dry heat and breakfast tacos. Simon enjoys cooking, music, and college football.
